Aim of the Cell
The primary goal of the Indian Knowledge System Cell is to promote an understanding of the various facets of traditional Indian knowledge systems. From ancient texts in philosophy, mathematics, and sciences, to the indigenous knowledge in art, literature, and cultural practices, the cell is focused on reviving and integrating these timeless principles into the modern educational framework.
Activities of the Cell
The Nyana Budha at DB Pampa College, Parumala, was inaugurated by Dr. Raju Narayana Swami IAS, the Principal Secretary of the Government of Kerala, in the presence of the esteemed Prof. (Dr.) Suresh S., the Principal of DB Pampa College. This event marked a significant milestone for the college, as the cell aims to promote intellectual growth, cultural awareness, and the integration of traditional knowledge systems among students.
Visit to Aranmula Kannadi Industries
As part of the activities organized by the IKS Cell, in association with the PG Department of Commerce, students were given an invaluable opportunity to visit industries engaged in the manufacturing of Aranmula Kannadi — the world-renowned mirror made in Aranmula, Kerala. This visit provided students with a deeper understanding of the history, craftsmanship, and the intricate techniques involved in creating the Aranmula Kannadi, a symbol of Kerala’s traditional artistry. During the visit, students were able to interact with artisans and workers, gaining firsthand insights into the meticulous process of making these unique metal mirrors. The visit also highlighted the importance of preserving such traditional industries and the role they play in sustaining Kerala’s cultural identity.
In an increasingly globalized world, the Indian Knowledge System Cell at DB Pampa College stands as a beacon of preserving the intellectual legacy of India while making it relevant to modern academic and professional pursuits. The cell’s activities are designed not only to educate but also to inspire students to explore, appreciate, and apply ancient wisdom in solving contemporary challenges. As the cell continues to grow, it aims to collaborate with various organizations, universities, and cultural bodies to further the cause of promoting India’s traditional knowledge.
